When Sustain C.T. is on, common tones (notes held in common between voicings) are held out into the next voicing, suspending the “Note Off” message until the next voicing where the common tones are no longer held in common.
When Sustain C.T. is off, each voice in the previous voicing is sent a “Note Off” message before “Note On” messages are generated for the new voicing.
The Sustain C.T. feature is particularly useful to create a smooth connected chordal texture by allowing common tones to remain held while other voices move. This is most effective when voicings are played using instrumentation with the ability to sustain, such as strings or wind instruments.
Include Bass Submenu
When ‘Include Bass’ is checked, common tones between successive bass voices are also sustained.
